Schoppen Wittes’ groovy night Chili Fries series kicks off for another night of spicey house music, this time taking over the Globus Floor with some exciting international guests.
Mark E is a DJ and producer from London. Back in the early 2000s, Mark E made his name with a series of re-edits on the Jiscomusic label. Those early explorations – long, loopy, glassy-eyed and chugging – effectively defined his distinctive production style. He returned to these roots in spectacular style last year, with a series of similarly minded edits under the E Versions alias on his own Merc Music label. A natural talent, since his 2011 debut full-length “Stone Breaker” Mark E’s rise has been slow but remarkable, finding his luxurious sounds among the best of house music DJs.
Kuba Sojka aka Psi-acoustic is the Polish music producer, musician and live performer from Myslowice. Since 2007 he has released experimental and dance music on labels such as Telescope, Enypnion and ROHS! Records, and a successful cooperation with Matrix Records from Detroit. Whether under the pseudonym Psi-acoustic or his real name Kuba Sojka, his genre reach is wide: ambient, IDM, downtempo, dub techno, tech-house, minimal, house, Detroit techno, deep house.
A young DJ to watch. Kazuki Yamaguchi is Kez YM: hailing from Japan and based in Berlin, Kez YM has steadily been building an impeccable discography ever since his debut EP “Sweetly Confused” on Gerd’s 4Lux label, sharing his fusion of soul-infused Detroit beatdown-inspired productions that have received nods from Moodymann, Larry Heard, Osunlade, Jimpster, Cassy and many more. Kez YM is one of the premier Japanese DJs who bring that true-school house flavor to the party with ceaseless energy and grooves.
Jay Denham is the second generation Detroit Techno pioneer – musician, DJ artist and producer from Kalamazoo, Michigan – city right in the middle between Chicago and Detroit. His style is a unique blend of these two worlds – Chicago House and Detroit Techno, staying true to the underground, making the music for the art of it and always remembering where he comes from. A legend in his own right, whether jamming with Anthony Shakir or capturing the attention of Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson who released Jay’s first EPs on Transmat off shoot label Fragile, as well as the KMS label – Jay Denham‘s style remained unique and blistering. Eventually settling in Germany, he expanded his style as a DJ and became famous for his skills, conquering the fans with his brand of hot mixing, rocking 3 decks back in the day. Touring the world playing at the most famous clubs and festivals, and releasing formidable music on top international labels, we welcome Mr. Denham back in our home.
As founder, owner, and the driving force behind Sonic Mind records, D-Knox is an integral member of the Kalamazoo techno scene. His passion for funk-laden hard hitting techno is apparent in his many releases since his entrance into the electronic music scene. D. Knox has gathered a following for his music both overseas and in the United States.
Afrozoid was formed by the brothers Rafael Lopez (ex-Los 3 brasileros) and Phabian Edward in 2013, rescuing old influences of House and Techno of the 90’s. The main idea of the project is to bring all the knowledge that both of them had in the past as DJs, when they played at underground parties in the 90’s. The essence of their productions brings influences from the past to the new era of House and Techno. Afrozoid comes with a combination of Groove, Dark and Detroit.
And also on the decks is Dust family member Caleb ESC, who is definitely making his techno sets known in the club scene around Berlin.
